Text Style Sets (.STP Files)
Text Style Sets (.STP) files are simple text files that can be edited in any text
editor. Each line of a style set contains the following fields, separated
by commas:
- Style Name - The name of the style. For Text Styles designed to be
used in model space, it is useful to include a number indicating the text size in
thousandths of a inch. For example, text that should print at 0.10 inches
in height might be called "Style100"; text that should print at 0.08 inches
high might e called "Style80".
- Font Name - The name of the font, i.e. "simplex", "romans",
etc.
- Text Size - Height of the text (in paperspace units), i.e., the size of the
text once it is plotted on paper.
- Width Factor - "1" is normal width, "0.5" is half-width,
"2" is double-width, etc.
- Obliquing Angle - Angle to slant text; positive numbers are slanted to the
right, negative to the left.
- Backwards, Upside-Down, Vertical - text effects; a value of "_y"
indicates the effect should be applied, a value of "_n" indicates that
it should not.
To the upper-right is a sample Style Set (.STP) file, as it appears in Notepad. This
Style Set is designed for Imperial Units, and assumes the Text Styles will be used
in a drawing that will be plotted with 1 paperspace unit = 1 inch. Therefore,
the L100 text style in the Style Set on the left will be 0.100 inches tall once
it's printed on paper.
The first style in this particular Style Set is a zero-height version of the
style. For all styles in this set, the Width Factor is set to 1. Styles with
names ending in "-O" have an oblique angle of 18°. Likewise, "-B" styles are
Backwards, "-U" styles are Upside-Down, and "-V" styles are Vertical.
